Overview of Euclid’s In-Store Wi-Fi Services
Euclid Insight helps us understand how large groups of people behave. This service collects and aggregates information that is broadcast by Wi-Fi enabled devices. We use this data to create reports for our retail partners to help them improve store operations.
Euclid Connect allows entities such as retailers to engage directly with their visitors through Wi-Fi. This service helps us and our retail partners provide you with customized experiences. At the time that you register with Euclid Connect, we combine information that you provide upon registration with information collected by Euclid Insight. Information combined with Euclid Insight information may date back to July 19, 2016, the launch date of Euclid Connect.
Information practices specific to each of these services is described in more detail below, followed by generally applicable information about data practices that apply to both services.

Euclid Insight Information Practices
When you walk near or enter one of our retail partners’ stores with a Wi-Fi-enabled mobile device, Wi-Fi access points may detect the presence of that device and its Media Access Control Address (“MAC Address”). We refer to this information as Visit Information. This Visit Information is collected and processed as you move across retailers that use our technology. We and/or our retail partners may aggregate this Visit Information into reports for us and/or our retail partners. If you do not wish us and/or our retail partners to associate this Visit Information, please see below.
Visit Information is used to provide aggregated reports for our partners and for research to improve our products and develop new services. Our partners use the reports for a variety of purposes, such as to:
- – Determine timing for promotions and sales;
- – Measure the effects of advertising;
- – Set staffing levels; and
- – Set store hours.
Euclid Connect Information Practices
When you enter a retail store and connect to the Wi-Fi service, you may be presented with the option to register for Euclid Connect. When you register for Euclid Connect at one of our retail partners, we and/or our retail partners collect the information you submit. We refer to this information as Registration Information. Registration Information may include information such as your name, email address, gender, age, or home zip code. We may also collect information about the websites you visit and applications you use and other information such as IP Address, location related data, device and/or browser type, and operating system. We refer to this information as Activity Information. We may also obtain certain other information from third parties.
If you login to Euclid Connect via a third-party service, such as Facebook Login or Google OpenID, we and/or our retail partners may access the information described in the third-party service’s request for authorization, such as your name, email address, gender, age, and home zip code. Please review your privacy settings with these third-party services to ensure you are sharing the information you wish to share.
Once you register for Euclid Connect, your Registration Information and/or authorization information is combined with the Visit Information, and Activity Information collected from your device. At Euclid, we may use this combined information for research to improve our products and develop new services.
The combined information may also be used by our partners and us so that we and/or they may begin to provide you with customized experiences, such as:
- – Providing advertising we or they believe is more relevant to your interests;
- – Contacting you with special offers and incentives;
- – Fulfilling your requests; and
- – Assisting our partners with customer service.
Generally Applicable Euclid Information Practices
Visit Information, Activity Information, and Registration Information is used by or shared with our partners as described above, so that we and/or they can provide you a better retail experience. We may combine such data across our partners to tailor advertising, offers, and in store-experience.
We may also share Visit Information, Activity Information, and Registration Information with our service providers in order to provide the services.
We may share information in response to a request for information if we believe disclosure is in accordance with, or required by, any applicable law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request. We require a warrant or court order before disclosing any of the limited amount of device location data that we possess.
Euclid complies with the Mobile Location Analytics Code of Conduct. As provided for in the code, you may elect to opt out of associating a device with a MAC address anytime at: https://smart-places.org/. We will remove any existing MAC address data in the future.
If you are a California resident, California Civil Code Section 1798.83 permits you to opt out of Euclid Connect sharing personal information with third parties for their direct marketing purposes here.
Where you have not consented to providing your Registration Information, we keep the Visit Information only after “hashing,” or scrambling the Visit Information into a randomized string of numbers and letters. Once a MAC address is hashed, Euclid will not attempt to re-identify the original MAC address from that data.
Data from Visit Information is retained for 24 months, unless it is necessary to keep the information for legal purposes. After 24 months, data about hashed MAC addresses is retained in aggregate form, unless you have joined Euclid Connect. If you have joined Euclid Connect, Registration Information, Activity Information and Visit Information is retained for as long as needed to continue to provide our services.
